Get to Know Lauren
I grew up here in southern Anne Arundel County and graduated from Southern High School in 2008. Animals have been my passion for as long as I can remember. From being the neighborhood dog walker from the early age of probably 8, to riding horses and spending as much time at the barn as humanly possible, I have always felt at peace surrounded by four legged friends. As I entered adulthood, I first made a career out of working with Thoroughbred race horses. I worked at a local farm “breaking” babies to prepare them to go to the racetrack and also as an exercise rider at Bowie Training Center and Laurel Racecourse.
After getting married and wanting to start a family, I decided to switch gears from horse training and move over to dog training. I first worked for a couple bigger companies and then a few years later decided to take the leap and start my very own CLK9 Training. Though my love for dogs themselves was my original driving force, I realized that I was equally passionate about sharing my knowledge about dogs and their behavior with other humans and that in doing so I could help so many dogs either stay in their homes or find forever homes. This was maximizing my gift!

When I’m not training dogs, I enjoy spending time with my family and our own animals. I am a mother to 2 little girls and also have an older bonus daughter and son. Along with our 2 dogs Roxanne and Xena, we also have 4 horses, a goat, a rabbit, a housecat and 2 barn cats to round out the pack here at Country Life K9 Training. Two of my horses are young horses that I got as babies and am in the process of training. I plan to foxhunt them with our local Hunt Club and hope to dabble in some lower level eventing with them as they mature and progress with their training.
The older of my 2 bio daughters, Magnolia, is already animal and horse crazy herself! I love being able to share my passion with my kids and teach them all about the magic of what animals can give back to us with trust and mutual respect. I can’t wait for my littles to be old enough to ride with me and help train the dogs- if they want to of course :) For now they are content to “peel” (heel) their stuffed animals all around the house, it is the funniest thing!
