Board & Train Program

Open to dogs aged 6 months & older without major behavioral issues such as aggression, severe fear or anxiety.
During this comprehensive program, your dog will stay here in our home and be immersed in our training lifestyle 24/7. This means that outside of your dog’s dedicated daily training sessions, they will be practicing appropriate crate manners, manners at potty and feeding times, enjoying social time in the yard, as well as practicing duration stay commands (such as long place or down stays) during downtime in the home. This makes the training feel realistic to the dog and patterns a similar routine to how your dog will live with you once they return home.
Part of the reason the board & train program is so effective is that it takes the dog out of their familiar environment and allows them to “start fresh.” This “reboot” allows the time for us to put a strong foundation of training on your dog to help them develop a new healthier state of mind. Once your dog is fully trained, it’s easy to transfer the training over to you and teach you how to use and maintain it once they are ready to return home.
Your dog will be fully E-collar conditioned, both on and off leash, and around a high level of distractions. This means they will actually listen to you when it counts! Not just when it's convenient for them or when you have a treat. Towards the end of your dog’s training we will be taking them off property and out in public to various parks, dog friendly stores, the boardwalk and downtown to practice their obedience where it counts in the real world.
Your dog will learn crate manners, general household manners as well as these commands & skills:
recall (come)
sit/stay
down/stay
place command (lay on their bed & stay until released)
heel (walk politely beside you on & off leash without pulling, barking or over excitability)
polite car riding manners
waiting politely at thresholds (doors, crate, car)
waiting politely for their food
We will also focus on minor behavioral issues such as:
jumping up
mouthing/nipping
counter surfing
getting into the trash
excessive barking
Includes:
30 MINUTE CONSULTATION
On drop off day, we will go over everything on your form in case anything has changed since the time you booked, including your dog’s issues, your training goals and their feeding amount/details.
2-3 HOUR LESSON
On our final day, we’ll transfer all of the information and technique over to you and go over our recommended protocols for post training success. We will also get you comfortable working with your dog utilizing the tools hands on so you will be confident implementing everything going forward. It is best if all family members can attend the go home lesson if possible.
TRAINING SUPPLIES
Each dog receives a state of the art Educator brand E-collar, slip lead or prong collar and place cot included in the package price. However, in some cases we need to upgrade to a stronger model E-collar which is an additional charge.
